About the role:
The Advertising & Promotions Manager will play a key role in shaping GWM's brand presence in the competitive Australian and New Zealand automotive markets. This role focuses on creative development, brand positioning, and a thorough understanding of media planning, including advertising principles to boost visibility and appeal to car buyers.
Responsibilities include overseeing creative development, production, social media, sponsorships, and events, while leading a team to ensure timely delivery of marketing assets. These efforts will support GWM's growth and market expansion.
The ideal candidate, passionate about the automotive industry, will bring expertise in multi-channel marketing and advertising. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this role will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to strengthen GWM’s brand and drive key performance metrics.
Key responsibilities would include but are not limited to:
Leadership and Team Management
• Supervise and mentor Advertising and Promotion team members, providing guidance, setting performance goals, and overseeing day-to-day activities.
• Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging creative thinking and problem-solving.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify professional development needs, and support career growth opportunities for direct reports.
Campaign Development and Strategy
• In collaboration with the Head of Marketing, the Marketing Specialist and agency partners develop effective creative campaigns for new model launches, brand and retail.
• Ensure that creative assets deliver the appropriate messaging to ensure customers fully understand GWM brand and product values.
• Regular asset checks to ensure pricing and key messages are appropriate to approved campaigns and policies as well as being appropriate to the current market environment.
• Oversee agency workflow and production schedules to ensure on time delivery of marketing assets to the market and the GWM dealer network.
• Assist the Head of Marketing and agency partners with placement of media on approved channels.
Promotional Events and Partnerships
• Help define, plan and coordinate sponsorship strategies and associated activations and events to complement paid media strategies and enhance visibility of the GWM brand in the public domain.
• Manage relationships with influencers, media outlets, and industry partners to enhance the company's reach.
• Oversee GWM’s social media platforms to ensure effective promotion of the GWM brand and positively manage GWM’s social community and ambassador activity.
Compliance and Brand Consistency
• Ensure all advertising and promotional content adheres to regulatory requirements and company brand guidelines.
• When required work closely with legal and compliance teams to avoid any potential legal issues.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a marketing role with an automotive brand
• Experience working directly with creative agencies.
• Prior experience managing a team.
• Proven experience developing and executing successful ad campaigns across various channels.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Proficient in digital marketing tools, analytics platforms, and advertising technologies (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
