The Procurement team leads the development of innovative features that simplify and optimise the procurement process for our customers. From vendor selection and supplier onboarding to contract management, purchase requisitions, and invoice processing, we build tools that ensure efficiency, transparency, and scalability across all procurement operations.
What you’ll do
As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will lead the design, architecture, implementation & delivery across our procurement product suite. You will collaborate with a talented team of engineers to conduct design and architectural reviews, ensuring the highest quality and scalability of our solutions.
This role is based in Melbourne.
Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in pursuing technical excellence through high-quality code and thoughtful system design.
- Deliver reliable, tested solutions with a strong focus on quality and maintainability.
- Apply a product-focused mindset to ensure technical decisions align with user and business needs.
- Design and build robust REST APIs, demonstrating deep knowledge of best practices.
- Collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary squads distributed across regions.
- Tackle complex problems with a pragmatic approach, evaluating new technologies and making well-informed implementation choices with the team.
Who you are
We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor degree or above in computer science or engineering related majors.
- 6+ years of experience in modern engineering practices focused on continuous integration and quality engineering.
- 2+ years of staff experience mentoring a community of engineers and leading the definition and execution of engineering strategy.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, solid understanding of OOP concepts.
- Experience domain driven design and event driven architectures.
- Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs. Familiar with modern API design principles and tools.
- Extensive experience with modern programming languages. Familiar with contemporary frameworks and tooling.
- Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.) with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience within the financial domain.
- Extensive experience with JVM based programming (Java or Kotlin). Familiar with Spring/Spring Boot.
