About the role
You will be responsible for contributing to the development of one or more digital products or services within an agile product team. You will contribute to an effective software engineering team culture to support the development of high-quality, reliable and scalable digital systems and software.
Key responsibilities include
Contribute to key initiatives to improve software engineering practices, capability and skills, informed by data, experiments and frequent feedback.
Your skills and experience
Rich software engineering background, including experience in full stack software development with exposure to a broad range of technologies. Experience in, or desire to learn, Extreme Programming (XP), including Test Driven Development and Pair Programming, and willingness to spread the values, principles and practices underpinning this approach.
Firmly grounded computer science and engineering fundamentals including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
Your technical skills
Springboot or Android), JavaScript/TypeScript (React.js, Angular.js, Node.js or React Native), and / or Golang, along with modern testing frameworks.
We take a cloud-native approach building most of our services in the cloud and hosted in container orchestration platforms. The majority of our digital services are bespoke applications, leveraging shared services to ensure cost effectiveness and scalability.
How we work
At Service NSW we use XP practices (including TDD, pair programming and CI/CD) to design and build fast, stable software and release it to our customers quickly. We are committed to iterative delivery using the build, measure, learn paradigm and we pride ourselves on being responsive to customers' needs.
Our teams collaborate to design and implement the right solutions, applying lean problem-solving to deliver value within a complex ecosystem.
Support office roles will be headquartered across McKell, Parramatta and Gosford. We will consider role headquarters outside of the above locations where the role can reasonably be performed from that location taking into consideration the operational, financial and customer requirements of the role, and an ability to attend a NSW Government workplace as . At the point an employee is notified of our intention to assign them to a role, the relevant leader will discuss headquarter options.
Salary Service NSW Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting
at $126,898 base plus superannuation
